How to Manage Relationships Between Contacts and Companies

ProjectMark allows you to define and manage relationships between records so your CRM reflects how people and organizations are connected in real life.

In ProjectMark:

  • Contacts can be related to other contacts and to companies
  • Companies can be related to contacts and to other companies, referred to as affiliates

Relationships help teams understand reporting lines, ownership, collaboration, and organizational structure across opportunities, projects, and the broader CRM.

Relationships can also be configured in two different ways:

  • Unilateral relationships, which apply in one direction only
  • (for example, “reports to”)
  • Bilateral relationships, which apply in both directions
  • (for example, “partner of” or parent–child relationships with mirrored meanings)

This guide brings together two approaches to managing relationships:

  • Editing relationships directly on contact or company cards
  • Managing relationship types globally from Settings

Use the option that best fits what you need to change.
